Molendijk Joins the Cirque-us

Congratulations to WA Girl Tain Molendijk who has been selected to join Cirque du Soleil. Tain is a former National Team member and trained at the Western Australian Institute of Sport. After being selected for the 2008 Pacific Rim Championships in the United States, she was forced to watch the competition from the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury during training over there for the competition. In 2007, competing as a Junior, she ended up 13th in the all around at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival where afterwards she decided to retire, something which was short lived and she returned and rocked at the 2007 National Clubs Competition, coming 1st in the all around and also taking out the titles on the uneven bars and balance beam and finishing third on the floor exercise.

The following is taken from the Gymnastics Australia website:

Tain was notified last week of her role in a new, yet un-named, Cirque show that will be a travelling BIG TOP performance. Tain will report to Montreal in August for 3 months of intensive training and then begin her specialised training for the show.

The premise of the show is the empowerment of women and will incorporate some sort of an uneven or high bar act which is what Tain will train for.
