The Brazilian Gymnastics Federation has announced the seven women who will move onto training and preparation for the Olympic Games in Ipswich, London. A total of nine gymnasts were involved in the training camp in Rio de Janeiro in the hope of making the next selection stage, however with the announcement of the seven, Leticia Da Costa and Gabriela Henrique Soares did not make the cut.
From the criteria the Technical Committee adopted to select the final Olympic squad for the nation, it has been revealed that only three gymnasts have shown what the Committee and Federation requires of them and even more excitingly this guarantees them a spot at the Olympic Games - those being Bruna Kuroiwa Yamamoto Leal, Daniele Matias Hypolito and Adrian Geovana Nunes Gomes. And huge congratulations must go to these gymnasts!!
From the article on the Brazilian Federation website, Georgette Vidor, the Technical Coordinator has said that "All the technical Commission talked to define what the girls needed to perform this year to be in the selection. Only three completed all steps, the others will be chosen in Ipswich."
With the three gymnasts having confirmed their places, it leaves the final four to battle it out for the remaining two spots and the reserve positions.
