Gymmin' Miel!

Swedish gymnast Jonna Adlerteg (pictured above) is set to compete in a four-gymnast mixed team set to compete at a Mixed Team-Romania-France-Italy-Germany Invitational competition which is to be held at Sala Polivalenta on the 7th of July. Some of the top gymnasts in the World will be in attendance and hopefully we get a chance to see the Romanian upgrades - Sandra Raluca Izbasa's Cheng vault and Larisa Iordache's Amanar! Germany's vaulting superstar Oksana Chusovitina will not be in attendance with the Romanian Gymnastics Federation stating it due to medical reasons, however the German Gymnastics Federation has stated that they have allowed Chusovitina to be "spared for this competition and will train at home instead" see here.

Some of the top female gymnasts from Great Britain, Spain, and Finland will descend upon Ipswich, Great Britain for a "friendly" competition on the 2nd and 3rd of June. Being held at Pipers Vale this is included as the second qualification event for the women who hope to make up the British team for the 2012 Olympics. The team and all around competition will take place on the Saturday from 2pm (Ipswich Local Time) and the apparatus finals from 12pm on the Sunday. So far only Spain's competitors are known. This weekend saw some of the best young men of the United States of America, who are aged 10, 11, 12 and 13 years-old descend upon the US Olympic Training Center for this year's Future Stars National Championships. The results from this competition determine the members of the Future Stars Developmental Team, (whose names can been seen below in bold in the results). Plus the top nine gymnasts in the 10 and 11 year old divisions, the top seven gymnasts in the 12-year-old division, and the top three in the 13-year-old division will be invited to a special Future Stars Camp which will be held at the USOTC next summer. The program uses special competitive routines to evaluate the skill, strength and flexibility development of each gymnast. Well done to all gymnasts and of course their coaches and support networks.
