Gymmin' Miel!

The International Tournament for the Prizes of the Six Time Olympic Champion Vitaly Scherbo was held in Mogilev, Belarus at the Mogilev Palace of Gymnastics on the 23rd and 24th of August. Uzbekistan's Dilnoza Abdusalimova won the All Around title with fellow Uzbek gymnast Anastasiya Belkova finishing in second and Belarussian Anastasia Miklashevich in third. The Scherbo Cup is held in conjunction with the 2013 Belarus National Championships, with Miklashevich earning the All Around title over Dayana Hryhoryeva and Yekaterina Fedutik as a result. Belkova won the Vault title over Tatiana Tsetsoha (Mogilev) and Uzbekistan's Elvina Amzaeva. Miklashevich won the Uneven Bars honors with Hryhoryeva and Asal Saparbaeva (Uzbekistan) finishing second and third respectively. The remaining titles (Balance Beam and Floor Exercise) went to Abdusalimova. Nastassia Zaitsava (Vitebsk) earned the silver medal on the Balance Beam over Lithuania's Laura Svilpaite, whilst on the Floor Exercise, Miklashevich and Saparbaeva rounding out the top three.

Minsk's Dzmitry Barkalau won the Men's All Around title and the Belarussian National title over Artsiom Bykau (Vitebsk) and Pavel Bulauski (Minsk). Uzbekistan's Eduard Shaulov won the Floor Exercise title over Bulauski and Nikita Dolhi (Bobruisk) whilst on the Pommel Horse, Anton Fokin (UZB) tied with compatriot Abdulla Asimov for the title with Bykau finishing in third. Barkalau won the Still Rings honors with Bykau and Bulauski tying for second place. Pavel Bulauski won the Vault title over Viktar Hrankouski (Grodno), whilst on the Parallel Bars, Vasili Mikhalitsyn (Minsk) dominated over Uzbekistan's Anton Fokin and Eduard Shaulov. Dzmitry Barkalau also picked up the Horizontal Bar honors over Azerbaijan's Anton Iashin and Bykau.

The 2013 "BelSwissBank" Category B Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup is set to get underway from the 17th to the 19th of May. The competition, which sees both Individuals and Groups compete, will be held at the Palace of Sports in Minsk, Belarus. Nine Groups are on the nominative roster, but look for the Groups from Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Belarus and Azerbaijan to make an impact. In terms of the Individuals to watch out for: Belarus' own Melitina Staniouta, Bulgarian Silviya Miteva, China's DENG Senyue, Spain's Carolina Rodriguez, Greece's Varvara Filou, Neta Rivkin and Victoria Veinberg Filanovsky of Israel, Korea's SON Yeon Jae, Latvia's Jelizaveta Gamalejeva, Russia's Margarita Mamun and Alexandra Merkulova, Ukrainians Ganna Rizatdinova and Alina Maksymenko and Uzbekistan's Djamila Rakhmatova.

Russian Evgenia Kanaeva won the All Around title at the 2012 BelSwissBank World Cup event in Minsk, Belarus. Fellow Russian Daria Dmitrieva was second with Belarus' own Liubov Charkashyna finishing in third. Czech Republic's Monika Mickova withdrew from the competition before the start due to illness, with Cyprus' Chrystalleni Trikomiti competing with two apparatuses before deciding to withdrew from the competition with an illness. Kanaeva was the top scorer with the Hoop, Clubs and Ribbon, whilst Dmitrieva was top with the Ball. Russia won the Group All Around title with Belarus and Spain rounding out the top three. The Belarussian Group was the highest scorer with the 5 Balls with Russia the top with 3 Ribbons and 2 Hoops.

In the Event Finals, the Russian Group and Kanaeva were golden taking out all of the honors. Belarus and Italy were Silver and Bronze medalists respectively, in both the Group Event Finals. In the Hoop Event Final, Dmitrieva and Belarus' Melitina Staniouta rounded out the top three, whilst with the Ball, it was Dmitrieva and Charkashyna who rounded out the top three. Aleksandra Merkulova of Russia was second with the Clubs, with Charkashyna for third with Staniouta. And with the Ribbon, Dmitrieva and Staniouta rounding out the major placings.

The 9th edition of the Vitaly Scherbo International Cup has taken place in Mogilev from the 29th to 30th of June. The competition which served as preparation for those gymnasts who will take part in the London Olympics and also saw gymnasts from Norway, Kazakhstan, Latvia and of course Belarus compete. Unfortunately the Belarussian Federation has only the top three results listed, with no scores, hopefully full results are published on their website in the upcoming weeks. All Around Champions were Artsiom Bykau and Volha Makhautsova for the Women. 2012 Olympian Nastassia Marachkouskaya won the Vault and Balance Beam Event Finals, whilst Makhautsova took out the Uneven Bars and Alina Sotnikava won the Floor Exercise title. For the Men, Aliaksei Kushneryk took out the Floor Exercise and Parallel Bars title whilst Vasili Mikhalitsyn took out the Pommel Horse title. Pavel Bulauski took out the honors on Still Rings, with team mates Aliaksandr Daronin taking out the Vault and Dzmitry Barkalau taking the honors on the Horizontal Bar.

No Tripartite place was issued for the Women who will be competing in London. This means that Vietnam will have two gymnasts at the Olympic Games as first reserve Do Thi Ngan Thuong gets the final place. We know that Bangladesh representative Quazi Syque Caesar received the Tripartite Invitation to compete for the Men. And for the Trampoline Gymnastics no Tripartite place was awarded, meaning the first reserves have been given the placement. For the Women,  Uzbekistan receives the placement and for the Men, Belarus receive the final spot.
