Gymmin' Miel!

The 2013 "BelSwissBank" Category B Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup is set to get underway from the 17th to the 19th of May. The competition, which sees both Individuals and Groups compete, will be held at the Palace of Sports in Minsk, Belarus. Nine Groups are on the nominative roster, but look for the Groups from Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Belarus and Azerbaijan to make an impact. In terms of the Individuals to watch out for: Belarus' own Melitina Staniouta, Bulgarian Silviya Miteva, China's DENG Senyue, Spain's Carolina Rodriguez, Greece's Varvara Filou, Neta Rivkin and Victoria Veinberg Filanovsky of Israel, Korea's SON Yeon Jae, Latvia's Jelizaveta Gamalejeva, Russia's Margarita Mamun and Alexandra Merkulova, Ukrainians Ganna Rizatdinova and Alina Maksymenko and Uzbekistan's Djamila Rakhmatova.

Russian Evgenia Kanaeva won the All Around title at the 2012 BelSwissBank World Cup event in Minsk, Belarus. Fellow Russian Daria Dmitrieva was second with Belarus' own Liubov Charkashyna finishing in third. Czech Republic's Monika Mickova withdrew from the competition before the start due to illness, with Cyprus' Chrystalleni Trikomiti competing with two apparatuses before deciding to withdrew from the competition with an illness. Kanaeva was the top scorer with the Hoop, Clubs and Ribbon, whilst Dmitrieva was top with the Ball. Russia won the Group All Around title with Belarus and Spain rounding out the top three. The Belarussian Group was the highest scorer with the 5 Balls with Russia the top with 3 Ribbons and 2 Hoops.

In the Event Finals, the Russian Group and Kanaeva were golden taking out all of the honors. Belarus and Italy were Silver and Bronze medalists respectively, in both the Group Event Finals. In the Hoop Event Final, Dmitrieva and Belarus' Melitina Staniouta rounded out the top three, whilst with the Ball, it was Dmitrieva and Charkashyna who rounded out the top three. Aleksandra Merkulova of Russia was second with the Clubs, with Charkashyna for third with Staniouta. And with the Ribbon, Dmitrieva and Staniouta rounding out the major placings.

The final Rhythmic Gymnastics event before the Olympic Games gets underway today in Minsk, Belarus and runs until the 15th of July. 2012 Individual Olympians in action, will be France's Delphine Ledoux, Italian Julieta Cantaluppi, Uzbekistan's Uliyana Trofimova, Israel's Neta Rivkin, Korean Son Yeon Jae, China's DENG Senyue, Ukraine's Ganna Rizatdinova and Alina Maksymenko, Spain's Carolina Rodriguez, Russian's Alexandra Merkulova and Evgenia Kanaeva, Belarussian's Liubov Charkashyna and Melitina Staniouta, Poland's Joanna Mitrosz, Kazakhstan's Anna Alyabyeva, Cypriot Chrystalleni Trikomiti, American Julie Zetlin and Germany's Jana Berezko-Marggrander. And for the Groups, Bulgaria is the only Nation whose Olympic participating Group will not be in attendance. Should be a stellar competition!!
