2011 Koop Cup
6:25 AMReturning to the Calendar this year, this event started in 1991 and was last held in 2001 where Anna Bessonova took out the Senior All Around title and Canadian up and comer Alexandra Orlando took out the Junior title. That year Alina Kabaeva arrived late to competition as a result of Visa issues, and could not contest the all around, as was the case with Canadian senior Emilie Livingston who had to do an OAC exam. Both however got free passes into the apparatus finals. The event is recognition of the contribution that the "Godmother" of Canadian Rhythmic Gymnastics Evelyn Koop has made. The event takes place in the John Bassett Theatre which is located in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The Gala Performance entitled "Harmony in Motion" takes place on the Friday night (21st of January) and the Group and Individual Competition gets underway at 9am on both the 21st and 22nd of January. Participants have been named, but they may change. Finland should be sending some gymnasts.
