2014 European Champs - Senior Men's Apparatus Finals

5:03 AM

Well it's onto the final six events of the competition at the 2014 Men's Artistic Gymnastics European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria - the Senior Men's apparatus finals. Solid Floor routine from Alexander Shatilov of Israel, low on the landing of his final tumbling pass. Great routine from Russian Denis Ablyazin. Nice routine from the Greek man Eleftherios Kosmidis and an awesome save on the landing of his final tumbling line. I am a huge fan of David Belyavskiy of Russia and I absolutely love his gymnastics. Great Britain's Max Whitlock's flairs work is PHENOMENAL!! Out of bounds on his 3.5 twist barani though. What a routine from Daniel Purvis. Ablyazin wins the Gold medal with Eleftherios Kosmidis finishing second. Shatilov and Purvis tie for the bronze. No messing around... it's straight onto the Pommel Horse final. I don't really know much about Pommel Horse except for the fact that it can look really cool!!! Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev comes off the horse. Next up, Croatian Filip Ude also comes off. What is going on?!? Belarussian Vasili Mikhalitsyn has also come off the horse. That's now 3 of the 4 gymnasts who have gone up that have come off the horse! Solid routine from Hungarian Pommel Horse superstar Krisztian Berki. Phenomenal routine from Whitlock!! Huge form break during Russian Nikolai Kuksenkov's routine but he managed to stay on. Rough routine for Andrey Likhovitskiy of Belarus. Whitlock tops Berki and Saso Bertoncelj of Slovenia for the title of European Pommel Horse title! Russians Aleksandr Balandin and Ablyazin share in the Still Rings title with Frenchman Samir Ait Said taking home the bronze. Poor Dutchman Jeffrey Wammes sits down both his Vaults. Wammes gets a rerun. Ablyazin takes out the Vault title over Ukraine's Igor Radivilov and Oleg Verniaiev. After a disastrous routine on Parallel Bars for Nikolai Kuksenkov of Russia, Slovenian Mitja Petkovsek also comes off the apparatus. Fantastic routine from Belyavskiy. Great comrade between David Belyavskiy and Oleg Verniaiev. Solid routine for Andrei Vasile Muntean who had barely dismounted before the Belarussians came to chalk up the P. Bars for Aliaksandr Tsarevich. Form break for Tsarevich who jumps off the Bars as a result. Verniaiev set the mark high as the first gymnast to go and he wins the European Title. Belyavskiy finishes in second with Dutchman Epke Zonderland in third. And we are down to the final Event Final of these Championships - the high flying Horizontal Bar! Oh wow that was a nasty fall from German Fabian Hambuechen just moments into his routine on his piked Kovacs. Solid routine from Sam Oldham of Great Britain. Long wait for Belgian Kristof Schroe's score. Nice routine from Swiss gymnast Oliver Hegi. Great routine by Kristian Thomas of Great Britain! Epke Zonderland - now that's how you do a Horizontal Bar routine!!!! Missed catch resulting in a fall for Ukraine's Maksym Semiankiv, and another fall. Zonderland wins the Title over Oldham and Thomas!!
