Day 1 - Event Finals at Youth Olympic Games

5:47 AM

Today sees the first day of Artistic Gymnastics Event Finals take place this evening at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center Gymnastics. Giarnni Regini-Moran added a second gold medal to his name, taking out the Floor Exercise title over Japan's Kenya Yuasa and Myongwoo Lim of the Republic of Korea. China's WANG Yan won the Women's Vault title, whilst Great Britain's Elissa Downie and Sae Miyakawa of Japan finished in second and third respectively. I must say that whilst watching the live coverage on olympic.org that I am loving the display of sportsmanship that we are seeing. Absolutely lovely! Something else that I am loving is the leotards that we have seen throughout the competition, and that we continue to see this evening. Awww Elissa Downie towers over WANG Yan and Sae Miyakawa! Good friends Nikita Nagornyy of Russia and Vladyslav Hryko of Ukraine finished 1-2 on the Pommel Horse, with Uzbekistan's Timur Kadirov picking up the bronze. Mexican Stephanie Marline Hernandez Hurtado sat down her dismount, whilst Laura Jurca of Romania has to count a fall marking an unfortunate start to the Uneven Bars final. Solid routines for WANG Yan and Miyakawa. Solid routine for Tutkhalyan - hop forward on the dismount. Tutkhalyan earns the title over Iosra Abdelaziz of Italy and WANG Yan of China. I just want to say how lovely Ava Lorein Verdeflor's leotard and performance on the Bars was.... and how I still find it bizarre to see Yevgeny Marchenko in the Philippines tracksuit. Nagornyy won the Still Rings title over China's MA Yue and Hryko.
