Day One EF's at Worlds

11:10 PM

Denis Ablyazin of Russia has taken out the Floor Exercise title on the first day of Event Finals in Nanning, China at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Japan's Kenzo Shirai finished in second with Brazil's Diego Hypolito finishing with the bronze medal. Love the leotards in this Women's Vault final. Fantastic vaults from Mykayla Skinner. Loving the U.S. Event Finals leotards. Huge step forward and to the side and out of bounds on PHAN Thi Ha Thanh's first vault (Yurchenko double full) and low chest on the landing of her front Handspring Rudi. Massive hop back by Claudia Fragapane on her Yurchenko Double full. Solid half on front layout half off. Mexican Alexa Citlali Moreno Medina is such a delight to watch. Step off the platform on her Tsukahara double full. Phenomenal vaults from HONG Un Jong. Alla Sosnitskaya lands out of the lines on her Cheng. Solid Yurchenko double full. That's how you do a Vault! Sensational Amanar from Simone Biles and a stuck half on layout half off. Solid vaults (front Handspring Rudi and Yurchenko full) from Giulia Steingruber. HONG Un Jong wins the title over the two Americans Biles and Skinner. Diego Hypolito has not stopped smiling during this medal presentation... absolutely lovely to see. In fact I think he looks happier than Ablyazin!! Lovely smiling podium. Lovely banter by the American girls on the medal podium. Ahhhh Svetlana Khorkina!!

Great save from Daniel Keatings in the middle of his routine in order to prevent a fall. Sensational routine from Alex Naddour - A little messy in parts... his team mates in the stand look pleased. Superb routine from Cyril Tommasone. His Pommel Horse work is always lovely to watch. Lovely routine from Filip Ude. Great sportsmanship from Keatings... it seems he is one of the first people to congratulate his fellow Gymnasts as they come off the podium. Solid routines from Andrey Likhovitskiy and Robert Seligman. And now it's time for the maestro... Krisztian Berki.... and he doesn't disappoint. Great routine from Saso Bertoncelj. Berki takes the title over a very happy Filip Ude and Cyril Tommasone.

And onto the Uneven Bars final.. something that I have been waiting for and think it will be a great battle. Oooohhh more lovely leotards!! Aliya Mustafina is wearing black and yellow with diamantes whilst Daria Spiridonova is wearing a rather simple patriotic leotard (reminds me of the old AIS leotards). Ashton Locklear is wearing the lovely U.S. EF leo. Rebecca Downie is wearing red with diamante patterning whilst Ruby Harrold is wearing the black and yellow leotard with diamante patterning. Gorgeous routines from Mustafina and Spiridonova. Solid routine from Locklear... just a little close to the bar on her dismount. Another fabulous routine from Rebecca Downie. Ruby Harrold off after doing her toe full a little early and being arched so that she could not save it. Nice routine from Lisa Katharina Hill who is wearing a leotard that has red sleeves, gold criss-cross and black body with diamantes. Sleeveless purple leo with yellow patterning from HUANG Huidan who delivers a fantastic routine. YAO Jinnan is also in purple - very elegant. She also delivers a great routine. I think we could be looking at a Chinese 1-2. And in fact it is - YAO Jinnan wins the title over HUANG Huidan with Russia's Daria Spiridonova winning the bronze medal.

And it's straight onto the final Final for today - Still Rings. Now this is one event that I still don't fully understand so bear with me. Sensational routine from Samir Ait Said to start things off. Wow LIU Yang just did an incredible set. Defending Champion Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti moves into second place after a great routine, scoring 0.2 behind LIU. Solid routine from YOU - step on the dismount. Russians Ablyazin and Nikita Ignatyev perform fantastic routines. LIU Yang wins the Still Rings title over Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti. YOU Hao of China and Ablyazin tie for third place.
