Day 2 EF's at Centroamerican and Caribbean Games

4:36 PM

Welcome to the second day of Event Finals at the 2014 Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos y del Caribe from Veracruz, Mexico. I missed the first two events of the coverage however Cuba's Manrique Larduet Bicet won the Men's Vault title over Dominican Republic's Audrys Nin Reyes and Guatemala's Jorge Alfredo Vega Lopez. Larduet Bicet's first Vault score was increased by 0.200 after an enquiry which saw him move into first. Venezuela's Jessica Brizeida Lopez Arocha dominated on the Balance Beam final over Mexico's Ana Estefania Lago Serna and Cuba's Yesenia Saskia Ferrera Nunez.

It's lovely to see Jorge Hugo Giraldo Lopez of Colombia and Cuba's Randy Jose Leru Bell clap for their fellow competitors in the introductions. Love, love, love the leotards we're seeing in today's finals. Gorgeous white leotard with silver patterning and diamantes for Paula Andrea Mejias Rodriguez. Stunning red leotard with diamantes and yellow and blue patterning on the left hand side. Two solid performances to start off the Floor final. Colombia Jossimar Orlando Calvo Moreno performed a sensational routine on the Parallel Bars! Beautiful leotard for Isabella Del Carmen Amado Medrano and a solid performance to match. Having two events being run at the same time means that the competition is moving at a rapid pace. Mexico's Karla Yanin Retiz Hernandez is a beautiful Floor worker although she was low on a number of landings. Silver leotard with white sleeves and diamantes for Elsa Garcia Rodriguez Blancas. Blue leotard with diamante patterning for Colombia's Catalina Elena Escobar Gomez. Great to see her still competing. Nice routine but she had problems with her landings of her tumbling passes. Gorgeous Parallel Bars routine from Daniel Corral Barron. Step out of bounds from Garcia but otherwise a solid routine. White leotard with diamantes for Yesenia Saskia Ferrera Nunez - such a powerful tumbler she bounded out of two of her tumbling passes. Black leotard with three solid blocks of colour on the front with diamantes for Dovelis Elena Torres Herrero of Cuba - solid routine. Yesenia Saskia Ferrera Nunez wins the Floor Exercise title over Lopez Arocha and Torres Herrero, whilst on the Parallel Bars, Jossimar Orlando Calvo Moreno wins the title over Manrique Larduet Bicet of Cuba and Daniel Corral Barron of Mexico.

And we are onto the final Final - Horizontal Bar. First up is Mexico's Kevin Ricardo Cerda Gastelum - Misses his first major release and lands heavy on his back. He gets back up and finishes his routine strongly. Corral Barron is there to give him support and what looks like a bit of feedback - love the camaraderie between all the Gymnasts. Puerto Rico's Alexander Rodriguez has gorgeous lines and that dismount was massive - he was almost to the end of the mat! Solid routine from Audrys Nin Reyes of the Dominican Republic, just a massive step back on the dismount. Puerto Rico's Luis Ramon Rivera has beautiful lines on this event - I'm a huge fan of his Gymnastics in general. Cuba's Randy Jose Leru Bell started off well with some great releases and unfortunately he counts a fall and put his hands down on his dismount. Huge fan of Venezuela's Jose Luis Fuentes Bustamante who pulls off a solid routine. Solid routine by Jossimar Orlando Calvo Moreno of Colombia - just a little pause in the routine. Phenomenal routine by Manrique Larduet Bicet of Cuba - way too much power on the dismount and he takes a number of steps to finish off the matted area. Calvo Moreno wins over Larduet Bicet with Dominican Republic's Audrys Nin Reyes in third.
