Mersin World Challenge Cup Qualifications

It was a small field of Women and Men who contested the Qualifications at the 2016 Mersin World Challenge Cup in Mersin, Turkey with every gymnast advancing to the Finals. Austria's Lisa Ecker topped the Vault over Demet Mutlu of Turkey and Catalina Elena Escobar Gomez of Colombia. Oksana Chusovitina of Uzbekistan and Tsz Sum Elizabeth Chan of Hong Kong also advance to the final despite both scoring 0.000 for their first Vaults. Mutlu topped Ecker and Chusovitina on the Uneven Bars, whilst on the Balance Beam Turkey's Tutya Yilmaz earned the high score over Ecker and Chusovitina. Yilmaz also qualified highest on the Floor Exercise with the higher execution mark over Ecker with Turkey Goksu Uctas Sanli in third. Turkey's own Ahmet Onder and Ferhat Arican went 1-2 on the Floor Exercise with Colombia's Jossimar Orlando Calvo Moreno in third. Calvo Moreno and Arican were the top scorers on the Pommel Horse dominating over Jordan's Adham Alsqour. Ibrahim Colak of Turkey dominated on the Still Rings, scoring 1.650 points over compatriot Yunus Emre Gundogdu, whilst on the Vault Calvo Moreno topped Hong Kong's Man Hin Jim and Onder. Arican dominated on the Parallel Bars over Calvo Moreno and Onder whilst on the Horizontal Bar Turkey's Umit Samiloglu dominated over Calvo Moreno and Onder.
