Sorry for the delay in the posts. I am fighting off an illness which seems to be knocking me for six. Thank goodness for a comfy couch! Anyways the big news of last night's first day of competition for Men at the 2012 Olympic Trials is Danell Leyva's lead in the All Around totals (this includes the sum of the two days of competition at the 2012 VISA Championships, combined with the total from yesterday's competition). John Orozco sits in second with Samuel Mikulak in third and Jonathan Horton in fourth. In terms of the Apparatus Rankings (the same totaling procedure as that of the All Around), the following gymnasts are tops: Jacob Dalton on the Floor Exercise (Steven Legendre and Paul Ruggeri III round out the top three); Alexander Naddour on the Pommel Horse (with Leyva and Orozco rounding out the top three); Horton on the Still Rings, with Brandon Wynn and Orozco in the top three on the apparatus. In terms of one Vault, Jake Dalton is tops with Mikulak and Legendre up there too. Leyva is tops on the Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar, with Mikulak and Orozco rounding out the top three on the Parallel Bars and Orozco and Ruggeri rounding out the top three on Horizontal Bar.

And now onto some brief observations from yesterday.... Mikulak was the highest All Around scorer!! Danell Leyva was 0.1 behind Mikulak with John Orozco in third. Top event scorers were: Jacob Dalton with a 16.150 on Floor Exercise; Alexander Naddour on Pommel Horse (with a massive 15.400 nonetheless!); Brandon Wynn on the Still Rings (15.500); Legendre scored the highest mark for his Vault - 16.250; And Danell Leyva ruled the Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar. Should be an exciting second day of competition on the 30th of June! Bring it On!!!
