Day One - WAG/MAG Event Finals

7:59 AM

Today (05/08/2012) sees the first day of Artistic Gymnastics Event Finals for Men and Women. The Event Finals will be spread over three days of competition, with today seeing competitors in the Men's Floor Exercise and Pommel Horse Event Finals as well as those in the Women's Vault Final taking to the arena.

Sending our best wishes to Elsabeth Black of Canada who injured herself on her first vault and did not perform a second as a result. Krisztian Berki wins the Pommel Horse final on the tie-breaking rules with Louis Smith being relegated to silver. Same thing happened with silver and bronze for the Men's Floor Exercise. Well done to ZOU Kai of China who defended his title from 2008. Sandra Raluca Izbasa won the Women's Vault Title with McKayla Maroney and Maria Paseka rounding out the medals.
