The University of Iowa can say that their Men's Gymnastics program is flourishing, with three Hawkeyes to participate at the World University Games or Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia. Javier Balboa Gonzalez  who graduated from the University of Iowa in the spring will be competing for his native Mexico. He had a successful year with the Hawkeyes, and will be hoping to capitalize on that experience to help the Mexico team capture a medal. Brandon Field who is a Junior this year will be competing for New Zealand whilst incoming Freshman Cory Paterson will be representing Canada.

From the News Article on the University of Illinois website (which you can see in full at: http://www.hawkeyesports.com/sports/m-gym/spec-rel/070313aaa.html):
"Having these three athletes representing Iowa at the 2013 World University Games is a testament to the caliber of gymnastics that this program is now producing and attracting," said UI head coach JD Reive. "Our competitive presence is just beginning to be seen, both on a national and international stage."
